Feeding Guidelines - Transitioning Your Dog To a High-quality Diet

How Much to Feed?
A cup from one brand of dog food might have fewer or greater calories than the next. Choosing the best diet for your dog is very important when determining the caloric needs of your dog. Therefore it is imperative that you are measuring out your dog food properly.

NOTE: Always use a dry ingredient measuring cup for accuracy. Using a coffee can or a heaping cup can cause your dog to gain weight or have loose stools.

Transitioning your dog should be done very slowly and over the course of 3 or 4 weeks is best.

Feed your dog twice a day. Have plenty of fresh water available. (I highly recommend filtered water.) Feed a daily amount divided into two feedings that will maintain your dog's weight. Follow suggested daily feeding amounts but keep in mind your dogs breed, age and activity level determines the amount you should actually feed.

Because Flint River Ranch Dog Food products are high-density, you should feed 20-25% less than other foods.
